HEY THERE! I'M KEYLEY SHAE
I am the artist behind Keyley Shae Design Co. I started this business "accidentally" right out of high school in 2018 by posting my art on Instagram for fun. Since then it has grown to be one of the biggest blessings of my life.
My story is a prime example of God's goodness and faithfulness. I am a firm believer that everyone has a gift and using that gift for the glory of God. I hope my story inspires and encourages you to go after your dreams and let God lead the way!
MY STORY
MARCH 2018
I started an Instagram called "Art By Keyley Shae" just for fun to show my art and items I would paint for people. It quickly grew from posting for fun to purposely painting wood pieces to take orders through Instagram and Facebook. I also opened up an Etsy shop
OCTOBER 2018
I started doing vendor events in my area, offering only handpainted signs. One of the first "big" events I did was the Taylorsville Apple Festival and it rained like crazy that day. Needless to say, it broke me in real well to the vendor life.
OCTOBER 2019
I made it into the local paper for my booth at a local vendor event and I thought it was the coolest thing to see my picture in the paper.
MAY 2019
This was a HUGE turning point in my career as an artist. In 2019 I went on a mission trip with my church to Romania. We went and stayed with the Finding Hope Ministries. This ministry holds a special place in my heart for many reasons but that's a story for another time. I went on this trip to be with the kids and help work on the missionary quarters, I had zero intentions or expectations to paint. They knew I was an artist and one day they asked if I wanted to paint on the walls. At this point, I had never painted on a large scale. The largest I had done was a big canvas. I was intimidated to say the least, but I did it! This opened up a whole new avenue for my business when I realized I was capable of painting on a larger scale! Before I even got back to the States I had two mural jobs lined up.
AUGUST 2019
I painted my first commissioned mural in East Alexander Middle School for a teacher. This led to the principal finding out about me and eventually painting multiple murals in this school.
AUGUST 2020
I ditched "Art By Keyley Shae" and "Keyley Shae Design Co" was born! This was when I made the transition from a little, fun, side hustle, to a professional business.
AUGUST 2020
This was one of the most exciting times in my career. The Taylorsville Times wrote a full-page article about me and my business. It is still one of my greatest honors!
MAY 2021
I graduated college with an associate in Advertising and Graphic Design
JUNE 2021
I shipped to all 50 states! This was a huge accomplishment for me!
JUNE 2021
I made the transition from only selling on Etsy to opening my very own website!
MARCH 2022
I opened up my storefront! This was one of the best days of my life! The love and support I felt from my family, friends, and hometown on this day was unmatched! I had worked so hard to get to this point and I was beyond proud of myself.
AUGUST 2023
I celebrated 5 years in business. Since 2018 I told myself if I could just make it to my 5 year anniversary then I knew I could make it and I did! We are still going strong and every day I thank God for this gift and all he has given me! I will never take any of this for granted!
OCTOBER 2024
I opened up Painting At Keyley Shae's. A "Paint Your Own Pottery" Studio. A place where the community can come and create, no matter their age or skill level.
WHY A POTTERY STUDIO?
Well, this is where it all started. When I was around 4 years old my mom would take me to paint ceramics every week, just me and her. It was our thing. We would paint all the time. Growing up my mom always encouraged the artistic side of me. Displaying my artwork, even at a very young age. The plate you see in this picture is a plate that my dad made with my handprint as a surprise for Mom. The surprise was spoiled since we went and painted pottery all the time mom saw the finished plate before Dad had a chance to pick it up.
In a way, this studio is a tribute to my mom. Without both of my parents who knows where or what I would be doing today!! BUT, because God is good and my parents are the most encouraging and supportive people, I am where I am today.
KEEP UP WITH MY DAY TO DAY
Life is crazy and always changing! Keep up with what is happening in the KSD world!
